Men's 4x800m Relay Shares Cyclone Club Honors

AMES, Iowa – Four members of the ISU men's 4x800m relay – Devan Kipyego, Emanuel Galdino, Tyler Carreon and Peter Smith – will share Cyclone Club Athlete of the Week honors this week after a standout performance at the Drake Relays.

The tradition of the Iowa State men winning the 4x800m at the relays held strong as the foursome took the title with a time of 7:22.53, the current No. 8 time in the world this year. It marked the ninth-fastest time in Cyclone history and ISU's 14^th title in the event.

Iowa State has now won the event five of the last six years, missing out only in 2023 when the Cyclones raced the event at Penn Relays.

Smith earned his second title while Kipyego joined his brother, Darius, in running with a winning 4x800m squad.

About the Cyclone Club
The Cyclone Club spearheads the fundraising efforts for the Iowa State Athletic department and gifts of all sizes directly impact the lives of over 450 student-athletes at Iowa State. Annual Cyclone Club gifts provide ISU student-athletes the opportunity to compete in their sport at the highest level, while preparing them to utilize their Iowa State degree once their athletic careers have concluded. Iowa State Athletics does not receive any State or University funding to operate, thereby making it one of the nation's only financially self-sufficient athletic programs.
