AMES, Iowa – Janette Schraft earned Big 12 Athlete of the Week following a record-shattering performance at the Stanford Invitational.
Schraft opened her outdoor season crushing her own 3,000-meter steeplechase school record by nine seconds, clocking 9:48.20 to win the invitational section. The senior, who became the first woman in Iowa State history to break 10 minutes last season, downed her record of 9:57.55. The time leads the nation by six seconds, with the next fastest time being 9:54.71. It is also the current No. 8 time in the world this year.

The Glenwood, Iowa native earns the second weekly honor from the conference of her career as she was named Big 12 Cross Country Runner of the Week in 2021.
Schraft's honor totals three for Iowa State this season, while it is the 16th women's Big 12 Athlete of the Week track and field honor in program history.
