AUSTIN, Texas - Iowa State junior Luke Gutschewski finished in a tie for 30th Wednesday at the NCAA Austin Regional. It marked the second-straight appearance at an NCAA Regional for Gutschewski, becoming the first player in school history earn a pair of trips to the regionals as an individual.
Gutschewski opened the day with a pair of pars before getting the first of his two birdies on the day on the par four third hole. After a bogey on the par four fifth hole, Gutschewski turned in his second birdie on the par four sixth hole.
The front nine ended with a double bogey and bogey before he opened the back nine with a bogey as well. Gutschewski turned in a par on seven of the final eight holes, while having a bogey on the par three 16th hole.
His 75 in the final round gave him a 216 for the three rounds in a tie for 30th place.Â
Texas won the team title at the regional, finishing at 27 strokes below par and a 16 stroke lead over Tennessee. Texas' Christiaan Maas won the top individual honors at nine-under par, while UNCG's Kelvin Hernandez was the lone individual to advance to the NCAA Championships with a third-place finish at six-under par.
