Keeley Marx Prepares for 79th US Open

LANCASTER, Pa. - Iowa State rising sophomore Keeley Marx is set to compete in the 79th US Open this week.

Marx's participation will be the 12th time a Cyclone has competed in the US Open and the fourth in the last six years.

In the field of 156 players, Marx is one of 21 amateurs set to compete in Thursday's first round. Marx will tee off at 7:57 a.m. (CT) at the Lancaster Country Club in Lancaster, Pa.

Marx qualified for the US Open by winning the qualifier at Briarwood Country Club in Deerfield, Ill. on May 13. She shot a 69-72=141 to take the title. Marx will be grouped with Sofia Garcia and Marissa Steen for the first two rounds.

In her final competition of the collegiate season, Marx had her best tournament of her freshman season with a 13th place finish at the NCAA Bryan Regional. She shot a 73-73-72=218, her third-lowest 54-hole score of her season. It was her first top 15 finish of her career.

Tournament coverage will be provided by the NBC Networks. Golf Channel and Peacock will have coverage on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., while Peacock will have coverage from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. From 1-7 p.m., coverage moves to USA Network. Coverage wraps up on Golf Channel and Peacock from 7-8 p.m.
