AMES, Iowa - Zach Verzani has been named the Cyclone Club Athlete of the Week after his performance in the hammer throw at the ISU Alumni Open.
The redshirt sophomore registered a toss of 211-9 (64.55m), the No. 2 mark in Iowa State history. Three out of his six throws improved on his personal best set earlier this season.
Entering the Big 12 Championships later this week, Verzani sits in solid position to qualify for the NCAA West Preliminaries.
The Big 12 Championships are set for May 9-11 in Waco, Texas.
