AMES, Iowa – Iowa State men's golf head coach Andrew Tank has announced the signing of Luke Metcalf, the third signee in the class.
Metcalf joins a class that already includes Andrew (Drew) Hensen and Sean Lee. The trio will join the Cyclones for the 2024-25 season.
A native of Walton on the Hill, England, Metcalf prepped at Reigate College in Surrey, England. Metcalf won the 2024 Bernard Darwin Youth Salver and was the 2021 Junior European Open Champion. He also picked up wins on the Faldo Series in 2022 and 2023.
"I'm excited to add Luke to our 2024 recruiting class," Tank said. "He will bring passion and competitiveness to our team. I look forward to helping him develop during his time as a Cyclone."
In his last 21 counting WAGR events, Metcalf has three victories and eight Top 10 finishes. He recently finished eighth at the Welsh Men's Open Stroke Play Championship and finished fourth at the Faldo Series England South I Championship. He also turned in a ninth-place finish at the 2023 English Men's Amateur Championship.
"After learning about the program from the coaches, it was clear that the lifestyle at Iowa State will suit me as a person," Metcalf said. "The golf facilities and tournament schedule will allow me to progress as a golfer and as a team member in hopes of reaching professional golf."
Metcalf has tallied a 70.39 stroke average so far this season.
