PARIS - Former Iowa State Cyclone Tyrese Haliburton and the United States Men's Basketball Team won the Olympic Gold Medal Saturday in Paris with a 98-87 victory over France.
The United States went 6-0 in the Olympic Games to win the gold medal. Haliburton appeared in three of the six games, averaging 2.7 points, 0.7 assists and 0.3 steals per game. He is one of just 12 players on the team to earn the medal.
Haliburton becomes the second former Iowa State men's basketball player to earn a medal and the first to earn a gold. Jeff Grayer earned a bronze medal in 1988. Haliburton is the eighth former Cyclone to earn a Gold Medal and will have a banner hanging in Hilton Coliseum.
