OMAHA, Neb. - Iowa State rising senior Luke Gutschewski is set to make his Korn Ferry Tour debut this weekend, as he will play in the Pinnacle Bank Championship presented by Woodhouse.
It will be a special occasion for Gutschewski, as he will be participating in the same field as his father, Scott Gutschewski. Not only will the pair be in the field, but they are in the same pairing for the first two rounds of the tournament. Luke and Scott are set to tee off on Thursday at 8:57 a.m. at The Club at Indian Creek.
Gutschewski made history this past spring, becoming the first Cyclone to qualify as an individual for two different NCAA Regionals. He also has a pair of wins in the last two years, taking the title at the 2022 Marquette Intercollegiate and the 2023 Zach Johnson Invitational. He set the 54-hole school record at the Zach Johnson Invitational with a 198, while he has four other 54-hole scores of 204 in the Cyclone record books. He holds the top-two single-season lowest stroke averages in school history at 70.78 (2022-23) and 70.86 (2023-24), while his 71.57 career stroke average is the best in program history.
Gutschewski won't be the only Cyclone in the field. Former Iowa State golfer Chris Baker will also be participating. Baker, who turned pro in 2008, has played in 42 PGA Tour events and 201 events on the Korn Ferry Tour. He has 17 Top 10 finishes in his career and he won the 2010 Moroccan Golf Classic. Baker is set to tee off at 7:51 a.m. Thursday.
