AMES, Iowa – Brooke Stonestreet has earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. It is the senior's fourth defensive honor of her career.
Stonestreet led all Big 12 players last week averaging 5.89 digs per set, with the next highest average being 5.31. Stonestreet totaled 26 digs in the four-set win at Colgate (6.50 per set) and a season-high 27 at Syracuse starting at libero. The Olathe, Kansas native now totals 20 20-plus dig career matches, the sixth most in Iowa State history.
Also at Syracuse, Stonestreet put up a career-high 10 assists for her first double-double. Stonestreet extended her double-digit dig streak to four matches and totals 54 10-plus dig career matches.
Stonestreet tallies the 65th defensive weekly honor for Iowa State, an award ISU is known for. Iowa State holds the highest total by a dominant margin, with the league's next highest total being 31 by Texas and 30 by a current Big 12 member, Baylor. Stonestreet is the fifth in Cyclone volleyball history to earn at least four defensive accolades.
It is the fifth Big 12 honor of the libero's career after earning three additional Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors in 2023 and 2022, and a Big 12 Rookie of the Week nod in 2021. Stonestreet is back in action this Saturday as ISU hosts West Virginia for the conference opener. Tickets are available here.
