Preseason Promise
Both Cyclone squads entered the 2024 season among the top-30 in the USTFCCCA preseason national poll. The Iowa State men were slated fifth following their top-5 finish at the NCAA Championships a season ago while the women were 30th in the national coaches poll. In the Week 1 ranking released September 17, both squads held their respective positions.
Jeremy Sudbury returns his top five individual finishers from the 2023 fifth-place NCAA squad in Sanele Masondo, Rodgers Rotich, Gable Sieperda, Said Mechaal and Timothy Sindt. First-year women's cross country associate head coach Cale Wallace will rely on the experience of NCAA top-100 finisher Maelle Porcher to lead the Cyclone women while also returning key pieces in seniors Kiki Connell and Bella Heikes as well as sophomore Sheridan Wheeler from the 20th-place 2023 NCAA Championships team.
