WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah - The Iowa State Cyclones (2-5, 0-1 Big 12) fell to Arizona State (4-3, 0-0 Big), Boise State (3-3-1, 0-0 MWC) and San Jose State (1-3-1, 0-0 MWC) on Monday afternoon at the Maverick Center. Arizona State won the meet with a 195.675, while Boise State and San Jose State tied for second with a 195.625. Iowa State finished with a 194.575.Â
"This team has spirit, and we're going to have figure out how to transition everything in practice to competition," said Head Coach Ashley Miles Greig. "Haylee Hardin's pair of 9.900s, as a freshman, to come in an earn that was definitely a highlight from today."Â Â
The Cyclones wrapped up their time in Utah with some excellent showings from several gymnasts. Haylee Hardin was the high scorer for the team this afternoon, with two 9.900s - both career bests – on floor and vault. Hardin was also named most valuable performer for the Cyclones by the Wasatch Classic. Senior Josie Bergstrom-Te Slaa earned a 9.850 on beam to lead the squad. Hannah Loyim, who competed against her twin sister at Boise State today, had the team's best score on bars with a 9.750.Â

The Cyclones began the Wasatch Classic on bars. Hannah Loyim led the team with a 9.750. Sophomore Paige Wills and senior Lauren Thomas were right behind her, each earning a 9.725. The team's 48.400 was the highest event score of the season.Â

Josie Bergstrom-Te Slaa was the leader this afternoon on beam, earning a 9.850 for the Cyclones. It's the second-straight week that Bergstrom-Te Slaa has led the way on beam. Thomas continues to be another strong standout this week with a 9.825. Hannah Loyim also had a standout performance, notching a 9.800 - a season-high.Â

The Cyclones had another strong showing on the floor. Haylee Hardin earned a 9.900 for the team, setting a new personal best. Hardin tied with an Arizona State gymnast for the highest score on the event, her first event title of the day. In her lone event on the afternoon, Noelle Adams recorded a 9.850, tying her season high. ISU only ran five gymnasts, and despite the pressure, the lineup pulled through and produced a solid rotation.Â
