How it Happened
Stonehill turned the ball over on seven of its first eight possessions as the Cyclones jumped out to a 9-0 lead. Despite their troubles taking care of the ball, Stonehill only trailed 25-18 with under eight minutes left in the opening period thanks to 4-of-5 shooting beyond the arc.
Iowa State finished the half on a 10-2 run to go into the break with a 42-27 lead. Jefferson and Lipsey each had 13 points at the half to pace the Cyclones. Despite 13 first-half turnovers by the Skyhawks, they were able to stay in the game with six 3-pointers while the Cyclones were 0-of-7 from long range.
Iowa State began the second half with a 16-5 run to take a commanding 58-32 lead. The Cyclones finally opened the lid from deep with four 3-pointers in their first four field goals of the second period. Killyan Toure, Jefferson, Lipsey and Momcilovic each buried a trey.
By the seven-minute mark, the Cyclones were on top 79-44 and never looked back. The Cyclones have held at least a 25-point lead in all four games this season.
