November Student-Athletes of the Month Named

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State Athletics Academic Services has announced the November Student-Athletes of the Month. The recipients are Austin Barrett, John Klosterman, Brooklyn Sandvig and Mari Paz Vilar.
Austin Barrett, Football
Barrett is a redshirt sophomore offensive lineman. In his first year as a Cyclone in 2025, Barrett made nine appearances after spending the last two seasons at Indiana. Barrett has earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in his career.
John Klosterman, Football
Klosterman is a redshirt junior linebacker. Klosterman returned from injury this season and appeared in six games. Through his career, he has logged a single-game career high of three tackles, and has had a solo tackle seven times. Klosterman has earned CSC Academic All-District, Academic All-Big 12 and the Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Award.
Brooklyn Sandvig, Track and Field
Sandvig will begin her junior season following earning All-America honors in the 4x400m last year. The squad made its first appearance since 1982 after breaking the school record, while Sandvig also sprinted to the second-fastest performances in the 100m and 200m through 2025. Academically, Sandvig is a Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll member.
Mari Paz Vilar, Tennis
Vilar is a sophomore on the tennis team. In her first year as a Cyclone, Vilar went 18-10 in singles and 5-5 at No. 3 singles. Vilar clinched two matches for ISU in 2024-25, including the victory over No. 31 Arizona. Vilar is an Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team and Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll Member.
