Trio of Cyclone Gymnasts Earn Big 12 Preseason Team Honors

AMES, Iowa – For the second consecutive season, Iowa State had multiple athletes named to the Big 12 Gymnastics Preseason Team. Frederique Sgarbossa (bars), along with Noelle Adams and Haylee Hardin (both on floor), were each named to the second annual preseason team. Both Sgarbossa and Hardin were unanimous selections.
The Big 12 Gymnastics Preseason Team consists of six gymnasts on each apparatus, as well as six all-around competitors for a total of 30 spots.
It's the second-straight year that Adams has been named to the preseason squad as a member of the floor team. Last season, Adams competed on floor in all 14 meets, qualifying for NCAA Regionals in the event. Last season, Adams claimed two floor crowns and has seven in her career with a personal best of a 9.950.
Joining Adams on the preseason floor team is sophomore Haylee Hardin. Hardin was tied for the team lead in event wins last year with seven, claiming five on floor. A member of the 2025 All-Big 12 Team (floor), Hardin also made the All-Big 12 Freshman Team in her rookie year, claiming four Big 12 Newcomer of the Week awards. She, like Adams, qualified for the Salt Lake Regional and competed on floor. She had the highest floor score by any Cyclone in 10 of the 13 regular-season meets.
Rounding out the honorees, Frederique Sgarbossa was named to the preseason squad as a member of the bars team. Sgarbossa was one of four Cyclones, along with Adams and Hardin, to qualify for NCAA Regionals last year, where she competed on bars. Her career high, a 9.9, was the highest by any Cyclone gymnast on bars in 2025. Sgarbossa joined Hardin as a member of the Big 12 All-Freshman team, as she collected three event titles, all on bars, in her first collegiate season.
Iowa State will begin its season on January 4 when it heads to Columbia, Mo., to face the Missouri Tigers. The season opener is set to begin at 2 pm and will be streamed live on SEC Network+.
