ISU Closes Day Two at Bryan Clay, Kansas Relays

AZUSA, Calif. – Iowa State continued action at Bryan Clay, while the Kansas Relays began with the hammer throw.

At the Kansas Relays, the men's hammer throwers had big showings as the trio all threw past 200 feet and hit personal bests ranking inside the top five in Iowa State history.

Zach Verzani led the Cyclones with a third-place finish of 213-4 (65.03m), hit in the fourth round, to improve his mark at No. 2 in school history. On Cam Jones final attempt, the five-time All-American threw 211-10 (64.57m) to place fourth and improve his mark ranking third in ISU history. Garret Wagner, who hit a PR last week, improved on that mark by over 10 feet with 205-0 (62.49m). Wagner jumps from ninth to fifth in ISU history and placed fifth at the meet.

For the women, Kaitlyn Burson hit a season best of 191-4 (58.32m) to place fourth overall, while both Ella O'Neall and Candra King hit personal bests.

At Bryan Clay, Maelle Porcher had a two second PR in the invite 5,000m with a time of 15:42.77. The distance standout improves her time ranking fourth in program history as she placed third in her section.

The Bryan Clay Invite closes tomorrow with sections of the 1,500m, while the Kansas Relays continue through Saturday.
