AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team opens conference play this weekend as it plays host to Colorado and Texas Tech on Friday and Sunday. The Cyclones will be back in action after a 12-day break following its defeat in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series.

THE SERIES
Friday will be the 35th matchup between Iowa State and Colorado, with Colorado taking 28 of the previous 34 matches. The two teams split their two matches in 2025, with the Cyclones winning the regular season match and the Buffs taking the rematch in the Big 12 Tournament.
Sunday will also be the 35th meeting between Iowa State and Texas Tech, with TTU leading the all-time series, 31-3. The Cyclones' last victory against the Red Raiders came in 2023.
LAST TIME OUT
Iowa State took Illinois to the wire but fell just short in a 4-3 battle on Feb. 13, before falling, 7-0, in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series on Feb. 15.
PLAYER TO WATCH
Mari Paz Alberto Vilar remains the Cyclones lone ranked singles player, coming in at No. 64 this week after splitting ranked matches against Illinois' McKenna Schaefbaur and Iowa's Mia Mack. Alberto Vilar and her doubles partner Stanislava Shulzhenko have also been ranked for much of the season after an NCAA Doubles Championships appearance in the fall.
