Beauvy Tied for First in the Middle of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic

MARICOPA, Ariz. - With about 5-9 holes left for teams in the second round, Paul Beauvy is currently in a four-way tie for 1st (-9) following tying a career-low round (64) in the first round. The Cyclones sit in fourth place after the first day of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at -16. Iowa State shot a 272 in the first round, tying the lowest round in the tournament and the tenth-lowest round in school history. The Cyclones have shot the second-lowest score on Par 5's so far at -13 and lead the field in eagles with two. #28 USC has outscored ISU by six strokes so far in the second round to lead the team race at -22 at the end of day one.
Beauvy started off his tournament bogey-free for 27 consecutive holes, carding ten birdies in the process, sixth-most in the field. Beauvy is also second in the field in Par 4 scoring at five-under par. Owen Sawyer is tied for 17th at three-under par, shooting a 68 in the first round. That marks Sawyer's eighth round in the 60's this season, and he has tallied eight birdies so far in the tournament.
Zach May and Dianchao Wu are both tied for 24th (-2) after day one. May shot a 70 in the first round, his 12th par or better round this season. May has also totaled seven birdies so far. Wu has carded three birdies and an eagle, his third this season and fourth of his career. Jackson McCommon is tied for 100th at five-over par, tallying three birdies and an eagle, his third in three consecutive rounds and fifth this season.
Teams will continue their second round at 9:30 a.m. CT and roll right into the third round afterwards.Â
