Distance Medley Relay Waves Flag at Drake

DES MOINES, Iowa – The men's distance medley relay waved flags in the final day of the 2026 Drake Relays.
Through the four days, Cyclones had 11 podium finishes in championship events, including two titles.
The men's DMR led off with Galdino for the 1,200m leg, while Sam Austin took on the 400m. Next raced freshman Jailan Sohna for the 800m, while Devan Kipyego finished with the 1,600m. The squad ran in first or second throughout the race and came out on top in 9:40.73 (No. 9 ISU).
It was the men's first Drake win in the event since 2021 and 10th overall. The Iowa State men now total 45 relay wins in Drake Relays history.
The men's 4x100m added more Relays Cup points on the board taking fifth in 41.30.
The women's distance medley took sixth, with the team of Riley Beach, Josie Baker, Ashlyn Keeney and Bella Heikes running the seventh-fastest time in ISU history of 11:21.32.
Freshman Emma Havighurst clocked a big PR in the 100m hurdles final to take silver. Havighurst timed in at 13.41 to now become the fifth-fastest in Iowa State history. Fellow freshman Zola N'Douma-Mona tied her PR of 13.46 (No. 6 ISU) to take bronze.
Alec Carr took fourth in the 110m hurdles final clocking 13.86 into a headwind.
Next came the women's sprint medley, where Brookyln Sandvig, Karynne David, Cameron Moon and Kinsey Christianson placed fifth with a time of 3:53.37.
The invite 4x400m closed the Relays, with the women securing silver. David, Rachel Joseph, Emma Vorpagel and Makayla Clark finished in 3:31.87, now the third-fastest outdoor 4x400m in program history.
The men solidified sixth with 3:09.50 to add three Relays Cup points.
Next up, ISU splits up for the Wisconsin Badger Challenge, Payton Jordan Invite and Texas A&M Alumni Muster May 1-2.
