COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Rachel Joseph lowered her elite 400m all-time best, downing the outdoor 400m program record for a seventh time to close the Texas A&M Alumni Muster.
Joseph downed the meet record clocking 50.55, a PR by .11 seconds. It is the star's second time this outdoor season dipping below 51 seconds, while Joseph now ranks T-No. 5 nationally. The six-time All-American now holds the top 27 400m times in Cyclone history.
Joseph then came back for the 200m to end the meet and kept in her record-breaking ways downing her own school record once more. Joseph went 23.21, topping her previous best of 23.36. Joseph has now broken or reset an ISU individual record 19 times.
Running events began with hurdles, and Alec Carr took fourth in 110m hurdles clocking a wind-legal personal best of 13.73 to better his time at No. 3 in Iowa State history.
Brooklyn Sandvig ran her first 100m of the year and took sixth with 11.51. The time comes just off her personal best of 11.48 that ranks second in school history.
Ava Cinnamo took the triple jump win, leaping to a collegiate best of 40-11 3/4 (12.49m). Cinnamo improves her mark at No. 3 in ISU history.
In the long jump, multi-eventer Zola N'Douma-Mona placed fifth with an all-conditions best of 21-0 3/4 (6.42m), and Sydney Willits took sixth with 20-1 1/2. Amari Laing placed seventh with a season best of 19-7 (5.97m).
For the men, freshman Jon Rice moved onto the final and took fifth with a best mark hit in the second round of 23-8 3/4 (7.23m), an all-conditions PR.
Next week is the final week of regular season, with the Cyclones hosting the Cyclone Twilight Friday, May 8. Alumni will be welcomed back and seniors will be honored.
