AMES, Iowa – Five Cyclones were recognized on Tuesday by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) as Academic All-District selections, tying the program record.
McKenna Andrews, Reagan Bartholomew, Sydney Malott and Lauren Schurman all earned the honor for the second consecutive year, while sophomore Jessie Clemons was a first-time recipient. ISU's five recognized athletes matched 2025 for the most in a single season.
It also marks the fifth straight season that the Cyclones have had multiple student-athletes recognized as CSC Academic All-District.
A year after making the swap from middle infield to the hot corner, Andrews turned in her best season as a senior. The fourth-year from Flower Mound, Texas, started all 55 contests at third for ISU, setting personal bests in hits, runs, homers, RBI and batting average.
Bartholomew bounced back from a junior year injury in a big way, producing one of the best seasons at the plate in program history. She led the team in batting average (.425, 5th-highest in season), runs (55, 3rd-most in a season), hits (71, 9th-most in a season), home runs (15, 3rd-most in a season) and walks (32, most in a season by a Cyclone) as she started all 55 games at shortstop for ISU.
Clemons, the lone first-time recipient, had a solid sophomore season for the Cyclones. After flashing her versatility in the field as a freshman, Clemons settled into left field during her second year, starting all but one game in left. Batting leadoff in each contest, Clemons set career marks in hits, runs, doubles, walks and stolen bases. At the end of the regular season, her 23 doubles were tied for the most in the country.
A Big 12 All-Defensive Team member, Malott was a stalwart for the Cyclones at first base. She set a new personal best in batting average (.315) as she mashed double-digit homers for the second straight season. In 390 attempts through the season, Malott committed just one error.
Schurman continued to shoulder much of the pitching load in her junior campaign, leading the team in most pitching categories as she finished the season with a team-low ERA of 4.65. She ended the season with 16 wins, the most by a Cyclone in a single season since 2019.
After the CSC committee parsed through the All-District honorees, it was decided that Reagan Bartholomew will advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be voted on and announced June 17.
The 2026 Academic All-District Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
