AMES, Iowa -Â For the second-straight year, and third time in program history, the Iowa State women's golf team advanced to the NCAA Championships. The Cyclonitas finished in ninth, the best finish in program history. Iowa State was led by All-Americans Nichakorn Pinprayoon and Pammy Chookaew, the first time in program history two players earned All-American honors in the same season.
KEY STORYLINES
-Iowa State has appeared in 16-straight NCAA Regionals, the third-longest streak in the Big 12 and the 15th-longest in the country. Arizona and Arizona State lead the country with 33-straight appearances.
-The Cyclones are coming off their second-straight NCAA Regional Top 5 finish, as the Cyclonitas tied for fourth at the NCAA Louisville Regional.
-ISU shot an 855 over the 54 holes at the NCAA Louisville Regional, the best 54-hole NCAA score in school history.
-Pammy Chookaew (73.5) and Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn (73.8) played 19 rounds of NCAA postseason play in their careers, the most of any players in program history. Their stroke averages are among the top four in school history among players with double digit rounds.
-Iowa State won its first Big 12 Championship in program history this year, with two Cyclones placing in the top 10.
-Nichakorn Pinprayoon got her third win of the season, as she became the fourth Cyclone to earn medalist honors at the Big 12 Championship. Chookaew finished eighth, as she became the seventh Cyclone to earn All-Tournament Team honors multiple times in her career.
-Head Coach Christie Martens was named the Big 12 Coach of the Year for the second time in her career, as she also earned the honor in 2011.
-Chookaew (2nd - 71.53), Pinprayoon (3rd - 71.60) and Chul-Ak-Sorn (10th - 72.83) find themselves in the Top 10 in school history in single-season stroke average.
-Chul-Ak-Sorn (2nd - 72.49) and Chookaew (4th - 72.85) finished among the best stroke averages in program history for their careers. Pinprayoon concluded her sophomore campaign with a 72.37 career stroke average, currently the best in program history. Isabella Yan (74.08) and Alexandra Vidal (75.54) are both among the top 10.
