AMES, Iowa – Iowa State safeties coach Pete Menage has been named to 247Sports 30Under30 list, joining a promising list of young coaches viewed positively by those in the profession.
The 29-year old Menage is in his first season at Iowa State after previous stops at Washington State (2025) and South Dakota State (2023-24).
He won a national title in his first season at South Dakota State while serving as the safeties coach under Jimmy Rogers. His safety groups have contributed to passing defenses that have ranked No. 8 (2023), No. 30 (2024) and No. 13 (2025) nationally. The defensive units Menage has been a part of have allowed just an average of 13 touchdown passes per season since 2023.
From 247Sports:
Menage is only 29 but has already been a full-time position coach for four seasons. He got his first on-field job at Winona State (linebackers/special teams), then spent two years as South Dakota State's safeties coach. With the Jackrabbits, Menage was part of a staff that won the 2023 national title. He helped produce an FCS All-American at safety, Tucker Large, and two other all-conference picks. With Washington State last year, Menage mentored a safety unit that didn't return a starter. Still, the Cougars ranked 13 nationally in passing defense. Menage, who is now in his third stop under Iowa State head coach Jimmy Rogers, is considered a faster riser. He's on a long-term coordinator path, those in the industry believe.
