CYCLONES vs. FALCONS
Iowa State and Bowling Green will meet for the third time in the schools' history, but this is the first matchup since the late 1970s when Earle Bruce and Donnie Duncan were leading the Cyclones.
ISU is 2-0 against the Falcons, earning a 35-21 win in Bowling Green in 1977 and a 38-10 win in 1979 at Jack Trice Stadium.
Two current Cyclones joined the team after transferring from Bowling Green during the offseason. Running back Cameron Pettaway was MAC Freshman of the Year and FWAA Freshman All-American in 2025 while cornerback Keyon Washington played in 10 games for BGSU in 2025, making seven starts.

LAST TIME OUT
Iowa State fell at No. 21 Iowa in the final seconds last Saturday in Iowa City. After ISU won on game-winning field goals in the previous two seasons, this time it was Iowa that took a 16-13 lead on a 42-yard field goal with 0:15 remaining in the contest.
The Cyclone defense held Iowa to 93 yards rushing, just the fourth time the Hawkeyes have been held to less than 100 yards since the start of the 2024 season. Neither team had a turnover in the game for the first time since the renewal of the rivalry in 1977.
The Cyclones jumped out to a 10-0 lead midway through the second quarter after Vince Benetti caught a 4-yard pass from Jaylen Raynor and rumbled into the end zone. Iowa would tie the game at halftime, 10-10, before Kyle Konrardy drilled a 51-yard field goal into the wind on the opening drive of the second half to put ISU back in front. Iowa would knock home a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter to win, 16-13.

The ISU defense has stood strong early this season, holding its first two opponents to just 13.0 points per game (31st nationally) and just 80 rushing yards per game (27th). The Cyclones have not allowed 100 rushing yards to their last three opponents, tied for the second-longest streak nationally.
Conversely, Iowa State has rushed for 100 or more yards in 19-straight games, the sixth-longest streak nationally (longest among Power-4 teams).
