Related Links More from Cyclones.tv Randy Duarte produced one of the greatest seasons in Iowa State baseball history in 1975, earning first-team All-America and first-team Academic All-America honors. A native of San Jose, Calif., Duarte took over as ISU's starting second baseman in 1974, leading the team in stolen bases. In 1975, Duarte led the Big Eight Conference in batting (.435), hits (57) and stolen bases (31), setting school marks in all three categories en route to first-team All-Big Eight and first-team All-America honors by the Baseball Coaches Association. Duarte's .435 batting average in 1975 ranked fourth nationally and ranks second in school history. He also recorded a hit in 20-straight games, a school-record streak which still stands today.
