Sami Budai is a senior from Ontario, Canada and competes on the Cyclone tennis team. Her hard work and perseverance on the court has allowed her to be ranked 7th in school history in overall career wins. Her positive attitude and ability to lead by example have made her a valuable asset to the tennis team, especially in her senior year. Sami is studying anthropology, and has been an active member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. |
Meredith Burkhall, a sophomore on the Cyclone women’s basketball team from Urbandale, Iowa, is a perfect representative for the 16-17 Farm Strong Squad. She exemplifies the core values of hard work, commitment, and integrity in all that she does. While many see Meredith’s accomplishments on the court, her impact reaches far beyond the walls of Hilton Coliseum. She is a true role-model for all young girls hoping to achieve their dreams. Her pursuit of excellence in all areas of her life; academically, socially, and within the community are a true testament to her Iowa roots. |
Hilary Green, a member of the Cyclone gymnastics team, is entering her junior year at ISU and truly lives out the Farm Strong characteristics every day. She is a native of Madison, AL and is pursuing her degree in Dietetics. Her incredible work ethic can be seen both in the gym and in the classroom, as evident by her earning Academic All-Big XII First Team during the 2016 season. Hilary always treats others with respect and always acts with integrity no matter how difficult the situation may be. |
Erin Hooker’s selection to the Farm Strong Squad is due to her commitment to excellence in the classroom and in her sport. This senior from Fort Collins, Colorado, is studying Journalism and Mass Communication and earned Academic All-Big 12 First team honors in 2015. Also in 2015, Erin earned All-Big 12 honors with her 2nd place finish at the Big XII Cross Country Championship, as well as All-Midwest Region for Cross Country. |

Suzanne Horner, a senior on the Cyclone Volleyball team, is the epitome of what it means to be a Cyclone student-athlete. She works very hard and has demonstrated a tremendous amount of perseverance throughout her collegiate career. This senior from State College, Pennyslvania is completely dedicated to her studies, her development as a volleyball player, and to her family, friends and teammates, and acts with integrity in all she does. Above all, Suzanne is incredibly kind and giving, and has a positive and energetic spirit which helps her teammates to overcome adversity both on and off the court. | Derek Jones, a native of Glenwood, Iowa, is a senior on the Men’s Track and Field team and truly exemplifies the characteristics of Iowa’s faming families. Derek is studying Marketing and has been actively involved with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He was awarded Honorable Mention All-American for the 2016 outdoor season for his performance in the 400m hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. His dedication to excellence can also be seen in the classroom, earning Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors in 2015 and 2016. |
Gabe Moreno is a senior on the Cyclone wrestling team. Gabe’s tireless work ethic and “All In” mentality earned him a spot on the 16-17 Farm Strong Squad. A native of Urbandale, Iowa, Gabe has excelled in the classroom as well as on the mat. In 2014, he was selected to the Academic All-Big 12 First team for his academic performance. Athletically, Gabe is a two-time NCAA qualifier and will use his experience to lead the team this season. |
Nate Rodriguez has been a key player in starting to build a championship culture in the men's cross country program. This native of Tempe, Arizona is a junior on the men’s cross country team and is studying kinesiology and health. In 2015, Nate earned All-Big 12 and All-Region honors for his performance in the cross country season. His dedication and commitment to his sport allowed him to post 5 personal best times during the 2015-2016 season. |

Hope Scheffert, a senior from Davenport, Iowa, is a member of the Cyclone softball team and is earning her degree in software engineering. Her passion and dedication to both her sport and her studies is evident by her selection on the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team in 2014. An outstanding teammate, Hope strives to lead the team through her work ethic and possess many of the qualities of the Farm Strong community. |
Kane Seeley is a senior on the Cyclone Football team and was raised in Perry, Iowa. Kane exemplifies a model student-athlete with his ability to maintain consistency and excellence in his daily obligations. He has produced yearly as a linebacker for the Cyclones, but it is what he has done off the field that separates Kane from the pack. A three-time Big XII All-Academic Team selection, Kane earned his degree this summer in Communications and will begin working on his masters this football season. He is also very involved in volunteering and is dedicated to giving back to the community. |
Nattapan “New” Siritrai is a Junior from Bangkok, Thailand. As a freshman, she earned Big 12 All-Tournament team honors by finishing in the top-10. Her hard work and success on the golf course allowed her to be selected as a member of the Thailand National women’s golf team. New is studying management and is extremely dedicated to her studies. |
Ruben Sondjaja, a member of the Cyclone men’s golf team, embodies the Farm Strong qualities and characteristics both on and off the golf course. This senior from Sydney, Australia is a leader in the classroom and goes above and beyond to help others in the community. He serves as a role model to his teammates on the golf course, demonstrating hard work and perseverance in all that he does. Ruben’s leadership also transcends the golf course, as he serves as a leader in several student organizations on ISU’s campus. |

Kaci Storm is a senior on the Women’s Track and Field team and is from Geneseo, Illinois. She is studying Journalism and Mass Communication. Kaci’s tremendous work ethic allowed her to tie or surpass her personal best in five of seven events at the Big XII outdoor championships last year, including a 4th place finish in the women’s heptathlon. Kaci all dedicates herself to her academic performance as well, earning Academic All-Big 12 honors in 2015 and 2016. |
Matt Thomas, a senior Men’s Basketball student-athlete from Onalaska, Wisconsin, earned a spot on the Farm Strong Squad based on his work ethic, ability to overcome adversity, and leadership. During Matt’s three years with the Cyclones he has experienced success on the court with two Sweet 16 appearances, two Big XII Tournament Championships as well as three NCAA Tournament appearances. However, his time off the court is where he has been equally impactful for our team and community. Matt is always available for community service projects, autograph signings and speaking to kids about his experiences as a student-athlete. |
Savanna Townsend, a senior on the Cyclone swimming and diving team, has all of the traits that our farm families live by day after day. She is humble, but a fierce competitor in the pool and in the classroom. After a race, either win or lose, she is the first to congratulate her opponent on a job well done. Savanna is a strong leader both in her sport and on campus. This year, she was elected as one of the captains by her teammates for the second year in a row. Savanna is a three year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and this year serves as the Co-President. She cares deeply about her school and teammates, and she is the first to volunteer and to offer a hand. |
Koree Willer, a senior from Fort Collins, Colorado, is a member of the Cyclone soccer team. Koree earned her spot on the Farm Strong Squad due to her tremendous work ethic and leadership both on the field and in the classroom. This is evident by her selection to the All-Big XII First Team in the 2015 season. Last year, Koree was the first Cyclone soccer student-athlete ever to be named the Big XII Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year, which is a testament to her dedication and leadership in the classroom. She is studying mechanical engineering and will graduate in May 2017. |
