Outdoor: Redshirted … competed unattached in the decathlon at the Drake Relays, finishing eighth with 6,347 points.

Indoor: Competed in six meets for Iowa State, three of them in the heptathlon … finished fourth at the Big 12 Indoor Championships with a personal best score of 4,995 points … during Big 12 heptathlon, set personal bests in the 60-meter hurdles (8.64), long jump (21-6 3/4, 6.57m) and pole vault (13-9, 4.19m) … finished 10th in the heptathlon at the Husker Invitational with 4,846 points … set personal bests in the shot put (37-3 3/4, 11.37m) and 60-meter dash (7.28) in Lincoln … finished fourth in the heptathlon at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational at 4,761 points … competed in individual events at the Cyclone Duals, Hawkeye Invitational and Iowa State Classic.

2016-17
Outdoor: Took part in five meets for the Cyclones, doing the decathlon in three competitions … finished seventh in the decathlon at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships with a career-best score of 6,638 … recorded personal bests in five of 10 events at conference championships … set a then-career best score in the decathlon at 6,558 at the Jim Click Shootout … also did the decathlon at the Drake Relays … competed in individual events at the Musco Twilight and the Tulsa Duels … finished third in the 400 at the Musco Twilight … took fourth in long jump at Tulsa Duels … ran in 4x400 relay at Tulsa and Musco.

Indoor: Competed in four meets for the Cyclones … finished 11th in heptathlon at the Big 12 Indoor Championships … also competed at the Iowa State Classic, Husker Invitational and Larry Wieczorek Invite.

Outdoor: Competed in seven meets for Iowa State … competed in the decathlon three times, posting a career-best score of 6,494 points en route to a seventh-place finish at the Big 12 Championships … ran the fastest time in the 1,500-meter run in all three decathlon competitions, with a best mark of 4:31.63 at the Jim Click Combined Events … recorded a career-best 172-6 en route to finishing third in the individual javelin competition at the Musco Twilight … took part in the 110-meter hurdles at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival, Stanford Invitational and Tulsa Duels … 110-meter hurdles was one of four events for Rhoads at Tulsa Duels, where he also took part in the 200-meter dash, long jump and javelin.

Indoor: Represented Iowa State in four events … finished 12th in the heptathlon, his first career multi-events outing, at the Big 12 Championships … competed in five events at the Big 4 Duals: 60-meter dash, 4x400-meter relay, pole vault, high jump and shot put … took part in the 200-meter dash at the Razorback Invitational … did the 60-meter hurdles and long jump at the Iowa State Classic.
