Upcoming Event: Soccer versus UNI on April 25, 2026 at 3 p.m.


Tyler Raborn is in his first season as Iowa State soccer's Sports Performance and Player Development Coordinator. Raborn joined the program on Jan. 15, 2021 from Chattanooga, where he served as the Speed, Agility & Quickness Coach for the Mocs.
“When we were looking for a sports performance coach with a soccer-specific background, I had four different people reach out to me with the same name: Tyler Raborn,” Fannon said. “Tyler comes to us with a fantastic thirst to improve our team athletically, and a background of proven success at improving players everywhere he has coached. He will add a great amount to our staff and we are thrilled he has joined us.”
Prior to his arrival in Ames, Raborn had been at Chattanooga since May of 2019. He was responsible for speed and conditioning development for the Mocs’ soccer, football, volleyball, beach volleyball and women’s tennis programs.
“I am excited for the opportunity to join Matt in building up champions in the game and in life at Iowa State,” Raborn said.
The native of Ooltewah, Tenn., has been tasked with creating strength and conditioning plans to help Iowa State’s student-athletes perform at the highest levels. Additionally he collects and analyzes sport science data to assist with injury prevention and interpret data to help the coaching staff to determine appropriate training loads for each player. Raborn also collaborates with the athletic training staff to help provide the best possible care for Iowa State’s soccer student-athletes.
Prior to his tenure at UTC, Raborn was a member of the Texas A&M sports performance staff as a professional intern in the fall of 2018.
He went to A&M following a three year stint as a graduate assistant athletic performance coach turned assistant athletic performance coach at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. In Little Rock he was responsible for the athletic performance development for soccer, swimming, diving, and men and women’s golf.
Prior to that he spent a year serving as a sports performance intern at Duke University. At Duke he assisted in all aspects of sports performance programs for seventeen Olympic sport teams.
He got his start at the University of Tennessee at Martin where he was an undergraduate strength and conditioning intern.
Raborn received his Master’s Degree in Sports Management from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in May of 2017 and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Human Performance concentrating in Exercise Science from the University of Tennessee at Martin. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.
