BOULDER, Colo. - The Iowa State volleyball team lost to Colorado, 0-3 Wednesday night in the Coors Events Center. Senior Stacy Nicks and redshirt junior Nanette Allen tallied 10 and 12 kills respectively, but were unable to lead the Cyclones to victory. The loss moves ISU's overall record to 2-23 and its conference mark to 0-16.
The Buffaloes were led by Sonja Nielsen and her match-high 16 kills. The victory improved CU's record to 12-10 and its Big 12 record to 8-7. Colorado was tough defensively on the Cyclones as they held ISU to a .092 hitting percentage and held a 15.5 to 13 edge in blocks.
Allen helped the Cyclones cause with her 12 kills, while connecting at a .346 clip from the floor. The Pasco, Wash. native committed only three hitting errors out of 26 total attacks. Allen has now surpassed the double-digit kill barrier in two-straight matches. She notched 15 kills on Saturday vs. Oklahoma.
Nicks also had a solid performance for Iowa State, collecting 10 kills and a .227 hitting percentage on the night. She continues to show her dominance at the net as she recorded a team-high eight block assists. The Spencer, Iowa native now owns 251 block assists in her career, which leaves the 6-3 middle blocker just five blocks from tieing Kari Mitchell for fifth on the ISU all-time block assist chart.
Iowa State will be back in Ames, Saturday to face Texas A&M. The match will begin at 7 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum.
