COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Iowa State volleyball team fell at Texas A&M, 0-3, Saturday night in the G. Rollie White Coliseum. Brittany Dalager notched her eighth double-double of the year in the loss, finished the night with a team high 12 kills and 10 digs. The loss moves Iowa State to 4-18 overall and to 1-16 in Big 12 action. Texas A&M improves to 19-4 overall and to 12-3 in league play.
The Cyclones claimed the opening point in game one and held and 2-1 advantage before the Aggies outscored ISU 9-2 to take a 10-4 lead. TAMU slowly increased its advantage through the opening set and eventually clamed the opening stanza, 30-20 on a service ace by Erin Lechler. Dalager paced ISU in game one, registering five kills and four digs. The Minneota, Minn. native hit .450 from the floor, committing zero hitting errors on 11 attacks in game one.
Iowa State kept the second game closer in the early going, as the two conference foes traded points, before the Aggies were able to take a 9-5 advantage. Texas A&M pushed its lead to four at 11-7, but ISU was able to cut the Aggies advantage to 15-17 at the midpoint of the set. TAMU responded to ISU's comeback, scoring five-straight points to take a 22-17 lead, forcing Iowa State head coach Linda Crum to call a timeout. Texas A&M maintained its lead for the remainder of the game and eventually claimed a 2-0 match lead with a 30-21 game two victory.
In the final game, ISU jumped out to a quick 2-0 advantage and at one point held a 10-6 lead, before the Aggies were able to rebound and tie the match, 13-13. TAMU took its first lead of the game at 14-13 and then kept the pressure on increasing its lead to 25-20. Texas A&M eventually secured the game 30-26 and the match 3-0.
Iowa State will take a break from Big 12 action, as they travel to Cedar Falls on Tuesday to take on intrastate rival and nationally ranked, Northern Iowa. First serve will be at 7 p.m. in the West Gym.
