NORMAN, Okla. - The Iowa State volleyball team dropped a four-set match (26-30, 30-32, 30-25, 20-30) at Oklahoma, Wednesday night in the OU Field House. ISU's Brittany Dalager recorded her ninth double-double of the season, finishing the night with 10 kills and 18 digs. The loss drops the Cyclones to 4-21 overall and to 1-18 in Big 12 action. Three Sooners notched double-doubles on the night to help OU improve to 3-29 overall and to 2-17 in league play.
Oklahoma owned a 65-41 edge in kills and outhit the Cyclones 175 to 156. The Sooners held Iowa State to a .064 hitting percentage for the match. ISU outblocked Oklahoma, notching 11 team blocks to OU's eight, but the Sooners held a slight advantage in digs, 70-64.
Mandi Harms once again led ISU in kills, pounding 11 on 33 attacks. It was the 15th time this year Harms has led the Cyclones offensive attack. The junior outside hitter now owns a career best 248 kills in 2001 and continues to average over 3.00 kills per game. Harms has reached double digits 14 separate times this season.
Dalager's 10 kills brought her season total to 235 and her 18 digs pushed her dig tally to 337. The true freshman is now averaging 4.11 digs per game, which ranks as the second best average in the Big 12.
The Cyclone will wrap up the 2001 season on Saturday vs. No. 2 nationally ranked Nebraska. The match begins at 3:30 p.m. in Hilton Coliseum and fans that bring a ticket stub from the Iowa State-Iowa football game will be admitted free.
