The Aggies dominated the match offensively and defensively, hitting .221 from the floor and collecting 83 digs. Texas A&M committed 27 hitting errors on 163 attacks. The Cyclones were limited to 50 kills, and a .093 hitting percentage.
ISU's Katie Jessen drilled 10 kills and senior Dana Koziol had 13 digs to help the Cyclones cause on the evening. Senior Renae Pruess had eight kills, five digs and three block assists. The Cyclones did well blocking tonight with 14 total blocks. McWee led the way with two solo blocks and two block assists.
“I thought Ashlie McWee played very well,” head coach Linda Crum said. “She did a lot of good things to help spark us when we needed it. Brittany (Dalager) also stepped up and took some good swings and had some key kills for us.”
Texas A&M had the advantage in game one, hitting .390 from the floor, compared to the Cyclones' .083. ISU had only 12 kills compared to Texas A&M's 19 and lost game one, 30-18.
The Cyclones hit a solid .173 from the floor in game two, but Texas A&M hit .267 and pounded 20 kills to ISU's 15. The Aggies took game two, and went into the locker room with a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Cyclones came out on top in game three, pounding 16 kills to Texas A&M's 11 and hit a sizzling .263 while holding the Aggies to .000 from the floor.
Game four was all Texas A&M as the Cyclones were held to -.133 from the floor, while the Aggies hit .222 from the floor. ISU pounded seven kills compared to Texas A&M's 13. Texas A&M won game four, 30-16, and the match, 3-1.
“I was disappointed with our intensity tonight,” Crum said. “Our fight wasn't there. Game three, I though was very good. We had good intensity and served really well, which, in turn, helped us block really well and our defense. But overall, I was disappointed at our overall play tonight.”
