No. 19 Iowa State Ties School Record With 12th Straight Victory

AMES, Iowa (AP) - Anne O'Neil scored 15 points and No. 19 Iowa State tied a school record with its 12th straight victory, 74-54 over Nebraska on Saturday.
Katie Robinette, Mary Fox and Lyndsey Medders each scored 14 points for Iowa State (15-1, 5-0), which also matched the best start in school history.
Nebraska (11-7, 3-3), playing its fourth straight game against a ranked opponent, kept it close for the first 30 minutes despite foul trouble and poor shooting. But the Cyclones finally pulled away with a 15-2 run, then finished off the Cornhuskers after Nebraska coach Connie Yori drew two technical fouls and was ejected.
Iowa State also got a big lift from reserve Lisa Kriener, who had eight rebounds and seven points, including a tip-in when Nebraska was hanging close and a 3-pointer during the decisive run.
The Cyclones also won 12 straight games in the 1995-96 and 2001-02 seasons. Their previous 15-1 start came in 2000-01.
Kiera Hardy, averaging 25.2 points in conference play, led Nebraska with 17 points but was just 1-for-7 from 3-point range. Danielle Page added 10 points for the Cornhuskers, who shot only 36.4 percent and were outscored 16-2 on free throws.
This has been a tough stretch for Nebraska, which upset then-No. 2 Baylor in three overtimes on Jan. 12, then lost to No. 20 Kansas State and No. 10 Texas Tech before playing Iowa State.
Iowa State led 43-39 when O'Neil hit a 3-pointer to get the Cyclones going. Medders and Kriener also hit 3s and Robinette, who played her freshman season at Nebraska, went the length of the court after grabbing a rebound and made a spinning shot in the lane.
When Kriener tipped a missed shot to Fox for an easy bucket, Iowa State led 58-41 with 8:32 remaining.
Iowa State was up 64-49 with 2:56 to go when Yori got her first technical for complaining that no foul was called on a shot by the Cornhuskers' Chelsea Aubry. She then walked out almost to midcourt and got the second technical.
O'Neil hit three of the four free throws and Medders followed with a 3-pointer, making it 70-49.
