Women To Race in Arkansas

The Iowa State women's cross country team will return to action at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark., after taking off three weeks from competition to train for the remainder of the season. The Chile Pepper will host more than 40 teams, including six other Big 12 cross country teams.

Number one and two runners Lisa Koll and Kelsey Bulat, respectively, will lead the Cyclones in another large running field. After placing seventh at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn. three weeks ago, women's head cross country coach Dick Lee expects sophomore Lisa Koll to once again finish in the top ten this weekend.

Returning to the team for the Cyclones this weekend will be senior Jenny Mockler. Mockler, the number three runner for Iowa State, will compete once again after battling illness for the past couple of weeks.

“We should be able to have some good races this weekend,” Lee said. “We've done some good training these past couple of weeks and I think the girls are ready for this. After this we have the Big 12 competition and I think this weekend's competition will really fine tune us for the championships.”
