In the beginning, the Lakers did not go away without a fight, forcing seven ISU turnovers and making four treys early in the game, two by Andrew Kearney. ISU had a slim 39-33 margin with less than four minutes remaining in the opening half, but a 14-2 run to close the half gave the Cyclones a 53-35 advantage at intermission.
ISU opened up a 25-point lead (64-39) with less than 15 minutes remaining in the contest when Mark Currie came off the bench to hit his second trey of the game. Currie finished with a career-high six points. ISU enjoyed a 29-point lead (74-45) with 11:26 remaining after Jessan Gray hit his second 3-pointer of the game. The Cyclones emptied their bench shortly after. Gray finished the game with a career-high 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field.
ISU shot a season-high 53.3 percent from the floor and drilled a season-high 11 3-pointers. It marks just the 15th time in school history where ISU made 11 or more 3-pointers in a game.
