AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State women's basketball team will play host to Colgate at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hilton Coliseum, before hosting the American Family Insurance Cyclone Classic on Friday and Saturday to wrap up the non-conference slate... Loyola Marymount and Utah State will join ISU and Colgate in the Cyclone Classic, which begins at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday ... the Cyclones return from their week hiatus at 9-1 overall, while Colgate is 1-10 on the year ... ISU senior All-America candidate Lyndsey Medders is 12 assists shy of breaking the Iowa State career record ... Toccara Ross leads the Cyclones with 13.4 ppg and 6.5 rpg ... this game is the second in five straight in Hilton Coliseum for Iowa State.

Lyndsey Medders, Nicky Wieben and Toccara Ross led the Cyclones to a 74-67 win over Illinois State at Hilton Colieum on Dec. 20 ... Medders turned in her second double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 assists, while Wieben posted a points-rebounds double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds ... Ross had 17 points, eight rebounds and four steals ... ISU shot 42 percent from the floor and was 6-of-18 from three-point range (33.3 percent) for the contest ... ISU outrebounded the Redbirds, 46-38 ... the Cyclones held Illinois State to 37.9 percent shooting from the field and 32.1 percent from beyond the arc ... Iowa State got out to a 12-point lead, 50-38, on a basket by Alison Lacey, but Illinois State went on a 10-3 run to cut the Cyclones' lead to five, 53-48, with 10 and a half minutes left ... the Redbirds continued to put together a run, eventually taking their first second half lead, 59-57, on a trey by Sara Stevenson with 7:40 left ... Iowa State then went on a run of its own, after tying the game at 61, to take a five-point advantage, 66-61, on a bucket in the paint by Lacey with seven minutes left ... Illinois State got as close as two points down the stretch, but the Cyclones locked down on defense, continued to find offensive boards and hit free throws to preserve the win.

Freshman Rachel Pierson was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Rookie of the Week by a media voting panel for games from Dec. 3-10 ... Pierson averaged 12.5 points and five rebounds a game while shooting 57.9 percent from the field in wins over Drake and Minnesota ... she went 5-of-8 from the floor and had 11 points in 17 minutes against the Bulldogs, playing short minutes due to foul trouble ... the St. Louis native led the Cyclones with 14 points, including 12 in the first half, and seven rebounds in 30 minutes against UM ... she blocked two shots and had one assist vs. the Golden Gophers.

Iowa natives Kelsey Bolte (Ida Grove) and Jocelyn Anderson (Gowrie) made it official Nov. 7 when they signed National Letters of Intent to join the Iowa State women's basketball team for the 2007-08 season ... Bolte, a 6-1 senior guard at Battle Creek-Ida Grove, was the 2006 2A Iowa state Player of the Year, and earned a place on the 2006 Iowa state all-tournament team while leading the Falcons to a 27-2 overall record and a place in the state championship game ... Bolte averaged 22 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and five steals as a junior to earn her second straight all-State first team honors and IBCA all-region accolades ... Bolte also won the state AAU tournament while playing on the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association Iowa Select team last year ... Anderson will join the Cyclones after two seasons at Des Moines Area Community College, where she is a sophomore this season ... the 6-4 center was chosen as a junior college preseason first-team All-American before the 2006-07 season began ... Anderson averaged 15.5 points, 11.2 rebounds and 5.3 blocked shots per game and shot 58.7 percent from the field as a freshman at DMACC to earn first team all-region and second team NJCAA All-America honors ... she led the Bears to a 19-14 record a season ago and DMACC was ranked sixth in the 2006-07 preseason poll ... at Prairie Valley High School, Anderson earned first team, second team and honorable mention honors over three seasons in the Twin Lakes Conference.
Looking Back at 2005-06
Iowa State played two rounds of the 2006 Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT), with both games going into overtime at Hilton Coliseum ... ISU topped UW-Green Bay 79-71 March 16 and fell to Marquette 69-63 March 20 ... it was Iowa State's ninth postseason appearance in the last 10 years ... Iowa State recorded its 15th winning season in school history, while head coach Bill Fennelly posted his 17th winning campaign in 18 years ... 13 of Iowa State's 22 opponents earned postseason bids ...
