Iowa State Falls to Texas Tech

AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State women's tennis team fell to Texas Tech 5-2 Saturday afternoon at the Ames Racquet and Fitness Center. The Lady Raiders captured all the doubles matches for a 1-0 advantage.

ISU junior Danielle Uscinski captured the first singles point for the Cyclones. Uscinski defeated Janet Durham in two sets at the No. 3 spot, winning 6-3, 7-5. Sophomore Caitlin Loprinzi of Iowa State picked up the second singles point at No. 5. Loprinzi battled Samantha van der Drift to three sets winning the first set 6-1, losing 6-2 in the second set and won the final set 6-4 for the match point.

At. No. 2 singles, Cyclone freshman Kara Hickey fought a tough three-set match to Cigdem Duru. Hickey won the first set 7-5, but Duru went on to capture the second and third sets 6-2, 6-4, respectively.

The Cyclones hit the road next weekend for a two-match weekend in Kansas. They play at Kansas State on Saturday at noon in Manhattan and finish out the road trip at Kansas on Sunday at 11 a.m. in Lawrence.
