AMES, Iowa - Renovations to Hilton Coliseum are beginning to take shape, as the 360 degree ProAd? board circling the arena and the new seats in the parquet have been installed. Installation of the new center-hung scoreboard began Tuesday, should take a few weeks and will be in place and operational by the opening of the Cyclone basketball season on Nov. 3 and 5, for the men and women, respectively.
The Daktronics center-hung scoreboard measures approximately 28x21 feet and needed more support in the Hilton ceiling before installation could begin. The top half of the board, which will house statistics, is the part which has been hung, while the bottom half is yet to come. The bottom half will consist of an HD quality videoboard, which will be lifted off the floor at the end of the week. The scoreboard will feature Daktronics' ProStar? VideoPlus technology, which will showcase game information, statistics, graphics, colorful animation and spectacular video images.
The sound system will be put in place when the videoboard is complete and the new court will be put down next week.
