“We played like we practiced yesterday,” said ISU head coach Greg McDermott. “We just didn't prepare well for tonight's game for whatever reason and it showed. We had some turnovers early that weren't forced and we're just not good enough to make those mistakes and win.”

"Wesley has been so consistent for us all year long on the glass," said McDermott. "He does a good job of getting to the loose ball and we need more guys to step in and do that for us."
The Buffaloes (5-9, 1-3) went on a 16-8 run to open the second half, forcing the Cyclones to play from behind. ISU was never able to regain the lead as Silas got hot for the Buffs, shooting 6-for-9 from the field, including 4-for-5 from 3-point range.

After Hubalek hit a pair of baskets to stake the Cyclones to an early 4-3 lead, CU went on a 19-6 run to go ahead 22-10. The Cyclones had 12 turnovers, all in the first 13 minutes of the half, but were flawless in the final seven minutes of the opening stanza to get back in the game.
Cory Johnson provided a spark for ISU, who started the game 3-11 but finished the half shooting 48 percent (12-25), in the first period. Johnson scored eight points on 3-for-3 shooting in just six minutes of play. Hubalek and Wesley Johnson also chipped in eight first half points for the Cyclones, who were a perfect 7-for-7 at the free throw line.
Hubalek matched Wesley Johnson with a team-high 15 points and seven boards, while Mike Taylor and Cory Johnson chipped in 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Richard Roby added 15 points for Colorado.
