AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State tennis team will host No. 29 Texas A&M at the Seven Flags Fitness Center, in Clive, Iowa, on Friday. The match will begin at 4 p.m.
The Cyclones, (3-1), look to win their fourth straight dual match. ISU is coming off a weekend sweep of Creighton, 7-0, and Gustavus Adolphus, 6-1. A big reason for the Cyclones' success this spring has been their strong doubles play. The Cyclones will try to improve on their 17-3 doubles record this weekend against the Aggies.
In the No. 1 doubles slot, sophomore Kara Hickey and senior Eve Soriano will try to push their spring doubles record to 7-0. Hickey and Soriano will likely match up against the No. 50 Aggie tandem of Tiffany Clifford and Sarah Foster.
ISU's No. 2 doubles tandem of senior Jill Palen and Caitlin Loprinzi will try to improve on their 5-1 doubles record as they will likely match up against Texas A&M's No. 25 duo of Anna Lubinsky and Nicki Mechem.
In singles play, Hickey, Jill Palen and Alyssa Palen will all try to push their singles records to 6-2 against the Aggies.
The Aggies (6-1) are coming off weekend victories over Auburn and No. 54 LSU. Texas A&M's only loss of the season came to then-No. 28 ranked Georgia. The Aggies are led by their two nationally-ranked doubles teams.
