LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.?The women's shuttle hurdle relay broke the school record and took the first place with a time of 58.16 at the Walt Disney World Invitational on Saturday at the Wide World of Sports Complex. Three former Iowa preps ran on the shuttle.
“It was fun,” said sprints and hurdles coach Scott Roberts. “We haven't run a shuttle hurdle relay in a number of years. We feel real good about breaking the record and it sets us up well to make the finals at the Drake Relays and to take a run at a Drake title.”
Williams later competed in the finals for the 100-meter hurdles. Williams took second overall with a time of 13.31, improving on her time of 13.71 from yesterday's preliminary races. Her time ties her school record set in 2004. Caffrey was also set to run in the finals, but dropped out due to injuries from earlier racing.
Senior Priya Hoze had another strong day in the triple jump, taking fourth overall. She recorded a leap of 40-3, an outdoor personal record. Hoze finished second in the long jump during yesterday's competition.
