Sweetin Named Specialist of the Week

IRVING, Texas - Iowa State gymnast Katie Sweetin was named Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday. This is the first time the freshman from Overland Park, Kan., has received the weekly honor.

Sweetin placed second in two events to help Iowa State to a victory over No. 24 Iowa. She tied for second on floor with a season-high 9.90, while also placing second on beam with a 9.825. She also competed on vault, tying for eighth helping ISU to a 49.225 event score, the second highest of the season and the second consecutive week the Cyclones have scored about 49.000 on vault.
