AMES, Iowa- The No. 13 Iowa State (10-4, 2-2 Big 12) gymnastics team close out its Big 12 Conference duals at Nebraska in its third consecutive away meet ... ISU looks to continue its momentum from the second half of the meet at Iowa last weekend ... the Cyclones earned a season-high 49.075 floor score and a 49.225 (second-highest of the season) on vault in the final two rotations to defeat Iowa, 195.325-194.275 ... the Cyclones improved their vault ranking (12th) and are ranked in the top 20 on all events ... seven-time All-American Janet Anson leads the Cyclones in the national GymInfo rankings ... the senior from Kansas City, Mo., is ranked second on floor (RQS 9.903) and third overall (RQS 39.365).

Iowa State picked up two points in the Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series, defeating No. 24 Iowa 195.325-194.275, but fell to No. 28 Minnesota, 195.350-195.325 ... Janet Anson won the beam and floor events and tied for second on vault (9.875) en route to the all-around title (39.450) ... Megan Barnes scored a season-high 39.125, placing third overall in the all-around with a first-place finish on vault (9.90) ... the Cyclones started off slow, falling behind Minnesota and tried to recover with strong performances in the last two rotations, but it was not enough to overcome the early mistakes ... freshman Nikki Dilbert led the Cyclones on bars with a 9.80, ISU's highest score of the first rotation ... Anson was solid for Cyclones' on beam, scoring a 9.875, the highest score of the afternoon ... Katie Sweetin scored a 9.825, to take second place ... the Cyclones picked up the pace with a great floor rotation anchored by high scoring routines from Sweetin (9.90) and Anson (9.925) ... ISU also counted season-highs from Barnes (9.775) and Tham (9.80) to score its new season-high 49.075 in the event ... in the final rotation, Iowa State put together another strong rally, scoring a 49.225 on vault ... Barnes lead the way with a 9.90 score, which tied her season-high set against Minnesota earlier this season ... Anson and Thompson (9.875) were part of a four-way tie for second place in the vault ... Iowa State was originally scheduled to host Minnesota on Friday, but the meet was postponed due to weather conditions ... the Golden Gophers were then invited to Iowa making the contest a triangular meet.
Iowa State gymnast Katie Sweetin was named Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday ... this is the first time the freshman from Overland Park, Kan., has received the weekly honor ... Sweetin placed second in two events to help Iowa State to a victory over No. 24 Iowa. She tied for second on floor with a season-high 9.90, while also placing second on beam with a 9.825. She also competed on vault, tying for eighth helping ISU to a 49.225 event score, the second highest of the season and the second consecutive week the Cyclones have scored about 49.000 on vault.
Anson Tops the Region
Senior Janet Anson is ranked first in the North Central Region and in the Big 12 Conference in the all-around ... she holds an RQS of 39.365 ... she is also ranked third in the nation ... additionally, Anson is ranked first in the region on floor (RQS 9.903), second in the nation and in the Big 12 ... the only person to top Anson is Nebraska's Emily Parson (RQS 9.904) ... at Illinois and again at Iowa, Anson scored a season-high on floor (9.925) to claim the floor title, she also placed first on beam and in the all-around and took second on vault.
On the Rise
The Cyclones had 13 individual season highs at Illinois and three team season highs including a season-high 196.425 team score ... ISU also scored season bests on vault (49.350) and bars (49.375) ... every gymnast in the bars lineup scored or tied her personal high for the season including seniors Lasher (9.925- career high) and Anson (9.90) ... Jasmine Thompson, Nikki Dilbert and Ceilia Maccani tied for fifth with a 9.850, a season-high for all three ... Season Highs by event: vault (4) Anson, Lasher, Sweetin and Thompson; bars (5) Anson, Dilbert, Lasher, Maccani and Thompson; floor (3) Anson, Dilbert and Sweetin; and all-around (1) Anson.
