AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State football players and fans are ready for a game. But for a defensive coordinator like Iowa State's Wayne Bolt, there is never enough time to prepare. ISU opens the season Thursday at 7 p.m. against Kent State in Jack Trice Stadium.
“Kent State presents a lot of problems with their athletic quarterback,” Bolt said. “The thing about game plans is that you just have to adjust during games and throughout the season. We have talked with our kids about adjusting and the veteran guys know what we're talking about. The younger ones will learn.”
Defensive end Rashawn Parker is ready for a game.
“Everybody is ready to get going after two-a-days and now we are working on the details,” Parker said. “We are still working on making reads and the little things. The players are ready. We have improved every day and we want to play a game. Kent State is a very good team. We will have to play smart against them.”
The team's next practice is Sunday.
