AUSTIN, Texas ? Iowa State's seven match winning streak came to an end Wednesday evening as seventh-ranked Texas got 23 kills from freshman Juliann Faucette and 15 from Destinee Hooker to defeat the Cyclones, 3-0 (20-30, 24-30, 28-30), at Gregory Gym.

The Cyclones (8-5, 2-1 Big 12) were paced by Mary Bisenius, who reached double-figure kills for the fourth match in a row with 11. Erin Boeve joined Bisenius in double-figures with 10 kills while Ashley Mass had 11 digs to lead the Cyclones.

The Longhorns (6-3, 2-1) were led by Faucette's 23 kills. The reigning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week hit .583 in the match. Texas hit .357 in the match and out blocked ISU, 10-4.5 en route to the win.

Texas took the first game 30-20 behind an efficient attack that saw the Longhorns out hit the Cyclones, .406 to .116. After the Cyclones pulled to within one at 10-9, Texas went on a 7-1 run that pushed the lead to 17-10. The Longhorns also out blocked ISU, 4-0, and out dug them, 19-12, to take the 1-0 lead in the match.

The Cyclones dropped the second game, 30-24, to the Longhorns to fall in a 0-2 hole heading into the intermission. ISU took a quick 3-1 on a pair of kills from Lauren Cummings and one from Boeve but Texas bounced back to go up 8-4. After the Cyclones closed the gap to 8-7 on a kill by Boeve, Texas increased its lead to 15-9. The Cyclones got within two at 16-14 on a kill by Bisenius, but that was all the closer they would get as Texas hit .275 to take the game.

The Longhorns closed out the match with a hard-fought 30-28 third game win. The Cyclones improved offensively in the game, hitting .324, but were unable to find an answer for the Texas' attack, which hit .419 in the game. The Cyclones led at 24-22 but Texas scrapped back to take the lead at 25-24. ISU was unable to get the lead back, despite tying it up at 26-26. A kill by Faucette wrapped up the match.

The Cyclones will return to action Saturday at 6:30 p.m., when they play host to Missouri at Hilton Coliseum. Iowa State will celebrate last season's NCAA Tournament berth with the dropping of a banner in a pre-match ceremony.
