CEDAR FALLS, Iowa ? Iowa State set a school record for digs in a three-game match since the inception of the rally scoring era with 83 and Erin Boeve became just the seventh player in school history to surpass 1,000 career kills as Iowa State cruised to a 3-0 (30-23, 32-30, 30-26) sweep of Northern Iowa in front of 5,124 at the McLeod Center Wednesday evening.

The Cyclones (3-4) used their trademark solid defense and tough serving to offset a sluggish hitting night, which saw ISU hit just .136 as a team. The Cyclones 83 digs broke the old record of 76, which was set in the 2005 season opener at Creighton.
“I thought tonight was about our serving, passing and defense,” said Johnson. “We didn't hit for a high percentage tonight but I felt like we served and passed as well as we have all season and that was the difference.”
Lauren Cummings led the Cyclones with 17 kills, including six in the first and third games. Boeve joined Cummings in double-figures with 11 while Jen Malcom added nine. Kaylee Manns had 39 assists and tied a career-high with 23 digs in the win. Laura Cady added 21 digs and Amy Vos chipped in 11.
Laura Rowen was the lone Panther in double-figures with 11 kills.
