DES MOINES, Iowa ? Sioux City native Mary Bisenius had a career-high 17 kills and Ashley Mass tallied a career-best 21 digs as Iowa State rallied to defeat No. 21 Louisiana State, 3-1 (26-30, 30-22, 30-26, 30-22), in the first match of the Hampton Inn State of Iowa
The Cyclones (4-4) hit .208 as a team and held the Tigers (6-1) to a .145 hitting percentage to pick up the win. ISU also out blocked LSU , 13 to 12, en route to their first victory over a ranked team since defeating
"This is a match that I think will really help us come next Wednesday when we open Big 12 play," said ISU head coach Christy Johnson. "Bisenius was big for us tonight. If she doesn't play like that, we probably don't win the match."
Erin Boeve and Lauren Cummings also reached double-figures for the Cyclones with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Amy Vos had 12 digs and Diane Kieger dominated the net with a solo block and seven block assists. Setter Kaylee Manns had 42 assists, eight digs, six kills to go along with a solo block and four block assists.

The Cyclones again improved their hitting percentage to .316 while continuing to play solid defense en route to a 30-26 third game win. ISU trailed 15-11 but went on a 9-0 run to take control of the match. Boeve had five kills and no errors to help the Cyclones take the 2-1 advantage in the match.
