DES MOINES, Iowa ? Iowa State hit .494 and out blocked Drake, 15.5 to 1, to defeat the Bulldogs, 3-0 (30-19, 30-14, 30-14), and capture the championship at the Hampton Inn State of Iowa

The Cyclones (6-4) were paced by tournament MVP Mary Bisenius, who had 10 kills in the match and finished the weekend averaging 3.50 kills per game and hitting .368. Jen Malcom also finished with 10 kills and Ashley Mass had a match-high 12 digs for ISU. Setter Kaylee Manns had 33 assists and also earned all-tournament team honors for the Cyclones.
The Bulldogs (2-5) were led by Angela Bys, who had eight kills in the match. Mikayla Sims and Emily Madden chipped in seven kills each.
The Cyclones took the first game 30-19 despite falling behind early in the contest, 10-8. A kill by Kieger and back-to-back Boeve smashes propelled ISU into the lead and the Cyclones never looked back.
The Cyclones blistered the ball at a .652 clip in game three to win, 30-14, and take the sweep, securing the mythical state championship for the second year in a row.
