20 Questions with Alex Grant

Each Tuesday we'll get to know a different ISU gymnast by asking them 20 questions. This week, meet Alexandra Grant, a freshman from Toronto, Ontario.

1. What's your favorite thing about being a student at Iowa State?
The people are so friendly, and everything is close by.

2. What's your favorite thing about being a gymnast at Iowa State?
The team is one of a kind! I have never met such an amazing group of girls before.

3. Why did you choose Iowa State?
Once I met the girls, I just felt like I belonged here. And I love Jacquelyn!

4. When did you begin participating in gymnastics?
I started gymnastics when I was three years old.

5. Who's your funniest teammate?
JenniO (Jennifer Hornbaker ). She gets me every time with her super unique dance moves!

6. What's your favorite sport other than gymnastics?
Speed Walking (those people move there bums really fast). Sorry Canada... It's not hockey!

7. Do you have any hidden talents?
I can move only my second toe on my right foot.

8. Tell us something the average person wouldn't know about you...
I used to have purple hair.

9. What's your favorite class?
Sociology 134

10. What's your favorite TV show?
Sex and the City

11. When I'm not at class or practice, I'm probably...
(what do you like to do in your free time?)
I shop till I drop every time! Even when I don't mean too! (Sorry Mom and Dad!)

12. Do you have any pre-meet rituals?
Listen to music as loud as I can!

13. What's the best advice you've ever been given?
There is a difference between doing the right thing...and doing something right. And think before you act! (I have learned this lesson so many times... but it just never seems to click!)

14. If you could have dinner with any three people (living or deceased), who would they be?
My late grandmother, Dane Cook, Ellen Pirro

15. Where would your dream vacation be?
The whole world!

16. You're trapped on a deserted island, but can have three items... what are they?
My Ipod with everlasting batteries (so I can dance all night), a yellow submarine (so I can visit the fish and my friends), and gum (so I always have fresh breathe, and something to pop when I am bored).

17. Tell us something you'd want us to know about your teammates...
If you meet them all at once you might be a little overwhelmed. They are all just so loud and funny and weird! But they are all the best friends I have ever had, and I know I can count on them for anything!

18. How would you describe this team?
Indescribable! Everyone is like family, and we are always looking out for each other. They just make me so happy in every way! They are the perfect team! And I absolutely love all of them!
