AMES, Iowa ? Chelsea Loprinzi, younger sister of Cyclone senior captain Caitlin Loprinzi, will join the Iowa State tennis team for the 2008-09 season, head coach Michele Conlon announced Wednesday.
"We are thrilled Chelsea will be coming to Iowa State," said Conlon. "Chelsea has a solid game and great deal of potential on the court and will be a fabulous addition to our program. She is also a terrific student, making her a great fit with our strong tradition of academic excellence."
The younger Loprinzi is currently a senior at Mayo High School in Rochester, Minn. She has lettered in tennis all four years of her high school career. Loprinzi currently competes at the No. 1 doubles spot for the Spartans and is also a team captain.
She has participated in the Minnesota State High School tournament four times. Loprinzi is a four-time all-conference pick. She holds a 3.76 grade-point average and is a member of the National Honor Society. She is coached by Dave Edwards and tennis pro Brent Freuh.
