McCoy Leads ISU at Mason Rudolph Invite

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Iowa State freshman Nate McCoy carded his second consecutive even-par round of 71 Sunday afternoon to lead the ISU men's golf team at the Mason Rudolph Invitational in Nashville, Tenn. McCoy, who shot a three-day 217 (75-71-71) total to tie for 23rd as an individual, was ISU's low scorer in the event, as the Cyclones placed 16th out of 17 teams with an 890 tally.
South Carolina won the team title at 839, eight shots better than second-place Kentucky at 847. Kentucky's Ben Fuqua blitzed the field in the medalist race, firing a 15-under par 198 total. He was seven shots better than second-place Jon Curran of Vanderbilt (205).
ISU's Ross Menke and Ben Herrera both carded 74s in the final round to help ISU shoot a 296 on Sunday. Menke tied for 53rd (76-72-74=222) and Herrera tied for 65th (77-74-74=225), respectively.
The Cyclone men are back in action, Oct. 6-7 at the Wolfpack Invitational in Reno, Nev.
